Home affairs policy

Home affairs policy is a broad field covering many different topics. These include the creation of framework conditions for employment in the civil service, the promotion of sport in Germany, dealing with matters of asylum and immigration, as well as measures to guarantee internal security. The Federal Government, in its government programme “Modern State – Modern Administration”, of which e-government is also an element, and its sequel, “Initiative to Reduce Bureaucracy”, is pursuing the aim of shaping the administration of government in a way that is more oriented to needs and providing services. Quality securing by means of orientation to customers is demanded. Thus, women and men are focused on equally.

Gender Mainstreaming is an integral element of the modernisation of administration, as it is through this strategy that the interests of women and men both as employees and as addressees of administration are taken into account.
The Federal Ministry of the Interior has begun in several pilot projects to apply Gender Mainstreaming to the conditions of employment in the civil service, for instance in the pilot project “Gender Mainstreaming in the collective agreements for the civil service” and “Gender Mainstreaming in the amendment of the Federal Civil Service Careers Regulation”.
The Federal Agency for Civic Education [German], as a subordinate authority of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, has begun to implement Gender Mainstreaming at institutional level and in its specialist work.

Here, you can find a few gender aspects which are important in the subject area “home affairs”.
